The Kincaid Bassmasters have one regular meeting a year which is held the last Friday in February. At this meeting all club business and decisions will be made. A vote on new members will also occur. The proposed tournament schedule will be voted on including ramp locations and duration. The meeting is sometimes lengthy, but it's only once a year.
The club is non-profit and governed by a set of bylaws or articles of incorporation. This is basically a set of rules that governs meetings, tournaments and special events. No secrets! The bylaws tell exactly what will be done. The bylaws will not be changed during mid-year.
The club is affiliated with Bass Anglers Sportsman Society and BASS Federation Nation which means each Kincaid Bassmaster member must also be a BASS and BASS Federation Nation member. The Kentucky BASS Federation Nation provides benefits to the club along the lines of insurance. The Kentucky BASS Federation Nation also has a set of qualifying tournaments in which you could eventually fish the Bassmasters Classic.
The club has several special programs. We sponsor an environmental projects such as a lake cleanup at Kincaid Lake State Park or planting fishing structure as part of our conservation program. Our club sponsors a Kincaid Bassmaster Jr Club. This club consists of children between the ages of 8 and 15.
Our tournament schedule consists of lakes/rivers. A Tournament Trail committee designs a trail with 3 selectable bodies of water for a calendar date. The choices are voted on at the annual meeting in February. Everyone has a say, then a vote is taken. The majority will then decide on the ultimate tournament schedule for the year.
We are very proud to sponsor our Annual Joey Well Memorial Kid's Tournament each year at the Kincaid Lake State Park. On average the tournament is fished by approximately 280 boys and girls. Our goal at the tournament is to promote a family outing in the great outdoors. We try to make sure that every young person receives a prize, a hot-dog and a soft drink. Most of our time is devoted to this very special tournament.
