BlueJacket Shipcrafters

Welcome to BlueJacket Shipcrafters, Inc. the oldest wooden model ship and model boat kit repair and restoration company in the US (since 1905!) Every kit and custom model ship is built in Maine by our craftsmen. For the finest in wooden museum quality ship kits and models, half hull models, fittings, tools, supplies and books, model ship repairs & restorations please enter our site. We are proud to be a wooden model boat company that has as fine a reputation, is considered a prime resource by the professionals and museums, and has as many friends as does BlueJacket.

Born in 1905, BlueJacket is still alive and kicking. When I tell that to people, they usually say “You don't look that old”, and I usually respond “We’ve aged well”. Yes the response is a joke, but one with a lot of truth in it.

We’ve aged well and BlueJacket is still around because what we do is fun. It’s fun because of the history and tradition of the vessels that we recreate and the knowledge that we gain from them; it’s fun because of our wonderful, talented staff; and it’s fun because of all the nice, interesting people with whom we have the opportunity of interacting.

I know that it is not possible for many of you, but please let me extend an open invitation to visit BlueJacket. You will find over 100 wooden model boat kits in our gallery, our workshops and metal foundry, and a warm welcome from each and every one of us. This is where we build our wooden ship kits and models - not in some third world country! Besides, the coast of Maine is a great place to visit.

With hard work, the support of our loyal customer base, the energy of our staff, and a little bit of luck, we start our 106th year in business with optimism, enthusiasm and the certainty that we will be continuing into the foreseeable future.

Suzi & Jeff Marger, and the whole motley BlueJacket crew.
