|Reel Ecstasy,LLC saltwater fishing charters leaves out of Portsmouth (Newington) NH and provides an enjoyable experience for beginners as well as experienced anglers. |
We fish for Striped Bass in Great Bay, Piscataqua River and along the seacoast of New Hampshire. We may also catch Bluefish if they are running.
We use light tackle and usually fish with cut bait to provide you with the best fishing opportunity. Baits are presented naturally and provide the angler with the thrill of feeling the fish take the bait, and setting the hook. We fish with circle hooks and support catch and release except for the occasional fish desired for the dinner table. Combined fishing and sightseeing trips are welcomed. Average trips yield 20-40 stripers, and in 2007 we never caught less than 10 fish on a trip in season.
Most fishing occurs in protected waters only a short trip from the dock. Striped Bass are our local fish and provide great action for anglers. The waters we fish have an abundance of stripers in all size ranges from "schoolies" up to large fish in the 40 plus inch size. Most frequently we catch fish between 20-35 inches. Current NH regulations specify only Striped Bass over 28" can be kept.
The Reel Ecstasy is a center console Sea Hunt with T-top powered by a 150 HP Honda 4stroke engine. The boat and engine combine to provide a stable, roomy, fast boat, allowing us to get to the best spots quickly and stay there in comfort. The open concept of a center console boat gives us plenty of room to fish and manuever when the big ones are on the line. The T-top provides shade when the weather is sunny. I have a large bimini top that can be set up behind the T-top to provide a covered area in the event of rain.
Striped Bass are plentiful from end of May-Sept. 30.
As Captain my goal is to provide you with the best time possible on the water.
Everything will be done to ensure you have a memorable time and look forward to coming back again and again.

For me running a charter business is to see the smiles on the faces of the people I take out. For many customers, it is the chance to take out a son or daughter on a low stress fishing experience where their child may catch the biggest fish of their life.
Most of this week was spent taking out fathers and sons for a fishing experience. Mike and Evan a couple of 11 year olds came with their Dads from Vt. to experience saltwater fishing. Andrew and his Dad had fished a lot on Winni but longed for some bigger fish and new experiences. Chris and his Dad had done a lot of fishing together and even tried for Stripers but never had any real luck. All of them allowed me to provide them with the memories of a lifetime.
My most memorable experience this week was taking out my Mom and Dad. They were up from Florida for a few days, and Dad at 81 remembers the days we fished together in Sheepshead Bay when I was young. His memory is no longer great but those days will stick in his mind forever. Mom, never did like the ocean, so we did real mellow trip fishing near Little Bay. After catching a bunch of fish, my Dad decided he had enough and curled up on the front deck to take a nap. Oh the memories, another successful fishing experience.
For each person, each family, the experience is different and requires a different approach that is what I hope to provide on my charter trips.
Take a kid or parent fishing, it provides memories that will last a lifetime.
